Medical Lake has a mayor and city council form of government and is located in Spokane County in the West Plains region of the area. It has a population of approximately 4,810. Medical Lake is very close to Fairchild Air Force Base.
Medical Lake has great fishing in its surrounding lake areas. However, we asked many of the locals about public access and we were only able to find one. Medical Lake is surrounded by private property so accessing the lake will be a challenge.
There is abundant wildlife, including huge flocks of wild turkeys which we saw near the hospital.
"Medical Lake was founded by Andrew Lefevre in 1872 and the lake was named for its high mineral content and it was believed to have healing powers.
Medical lake has been a popular recreation attraction since the late 1800's. An electric rail road brought many visitors from Spokane to cruise the lake on steam powered paddle wheel boats and enjoy the resorts and spas.
Coney Island boathouse and dance pavilion was located at the end of Lake Street where Coney Island Park is today."
