Beech and Yew trees shade the grass beneath their branches in the remains of the formal gardens that belonged to Dr White.
Paths dip down into an old woodland and if you continue up the slopes to the other side the woods open out onto a meadow area. Newly created ponds in these meadows have become important for dragonflies where emperors, common and brown hawkers and common darters have been spotted.

From the meadows you can take a new footbridge over the M60 to Sale Water Park. The water park is a gravel pit, flooded after the extraction of gravel for the M60 in the 1970s.
