IN 1992, TO CELEBRATE THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF
THE DEC. 24, 1882, INCORPORATION OF FORT SMITH,
THIS TIME CAPSULE WAS PLACED. IT IS TO BE OPENED
IN 2042 ON THE CITY'S 200TH ANNIVERSARY.
THE 900 POUND METAL CAPSULE, ENCLOSED IN A
2,000 POUND CONCRETE VAULT, CONTAINS 165 ITEMS
DONATED BY CITIZENS, REPRESENTING THE WAY WE
LIVED IN 1992, GIFTS TO THE FORT SMITH PEOPLE
OF 2042.
