Chinatown business owner Kang Hun Cho opened a Korean style karaoke box in the empty space on the second floor above The Korean Palace restaurant, 610 Somerset Street. During the week, VIP is open from 4 p.m. until 2 a.m. On Saturdays and Sundays, VIP opens at 2 p.m. What about the children? VIP is family friendly on Saturday and Sunday afternoons until 6 p.m.
Menu includes chicken wings, nachos, steamed dumplings, steamed pork hocks, chicken fingers and Korean snacks.
There are two kinds of karaoke machines, one playing Korean, Vietnamese, Japanese and English songs and the other playing Chinese songs, both types using wireless microphones. There are seven private rooms, smaller rooms hosting crowds of four to six while larger rooms fit an audience of about twenty people. There is also a dance floor that will fit sixty people.
