This electric locomotive, built in August if 1923 by Baldwin-Westinghouse as locomotive number 56937, started operating pulling freight on the Glendale & Montrose Railway in the suburbs of Los Angeles. After the G&M went out of business in 1930, the Union Pacific continued to use it for freight service on a portion of the former G&M line. In 1938, the locomotive was sold to the Yakima Valley Transportation Company for use in the apple-growing region of Washington state.
