Note that, whilst the name of the settlement that used to be here, and the church, is Mineral Springs (plural), the sign on the cemetery says Mineral Spring (singular). It is listed as Mineral Springs Cemetery in both FindAGrave, which listed
732 interments at the time of this posting, and in
this rootsweb page, which has a
lot of useful information about the cemetery. Seems like the sign maker misheard "Springs Cemetery" as "Spring Cemetery", since they sound similar.
Not much is known about Bill Erwin except that he was Dad to whomever hand-etched the simple native stone grave marker -- even the FindAGrave contributor had nothing more to add. However, the researcher for the rootsweb site mentions that this stone may be for a William P. Erwin who was born on 24 July 1884 in Illinois and died on 23 November 1928.
