One of Swaziland's most popular tourist attractions, a visit to the Manzini Market is a great way for visitors to experience local Swazi culture and to shop for gifts and souvenirs for friends and family back home.
The Manzini Market operates every Thursday and Friday, and consists of two distinct sections: the first sells 'everyday' items, including fruits and vegetables, household items and traditional medicines. The other section sells a wide range of hand-made, traditional Swazi crafts and curios, including carved wooden pieces, traditional pottery, beaded jewellery, embroidery cloth, leather products, a large variety of fabrics and the woven baskets for which Swaziland is especially well known.
Most of the stalls at the Manzini Market are operated by women who manufacture their wares at their villages and make their way to the market to sell them.
