EN: The former school house is located on the north side of the Schmiedeplatz. The two-story building from the 1850s has seven window bays and a hipped roof with a turret.

The architectural history begins with a peculiar speculation: After the municipal council had decided in 1849 to build a school house at this location, the cooper Jakob Bielser-Atz pre-empted them and built a farmhouse there, which he sold to the community the very next year. After the first planning application for the conversion into a school building was rejected by the government, finally the modifications after plans by the cantonal building inspector could be carried out and were completed in 1855.

The house originally had two classrooms and two teachers appartments, which were later also converted into classrooms. The school was used for over a hundred years. In the 1960s the house was to be demolished to make room for a police post, but these plans were dropped and in 1985/86 the building was completely renovated. Today a kindergarten, as well as music rooms and other secondary rooms of the school and the local administration are housed here.

Die Baugeschichte beginnt mit einer eigenartigen Spekulation: Nachdem die Gemeinde 1849 beschlossen hatte, an dieser Stelle ein Schulhaus zu bauen, kam ihr der Küfer Jakob Bielser-Atz jedoch zuvor und erstellte ein Bauernhaus, das er schon im nächsten Jahr der Gemeinde verkaufte. Nachdem das erste Baugesuch für den Umbau in ein Schulhaus von der Regierung abgelehnt wurde, konnte schliesslich doch ein Umbau nach Plänen des kantonalen Bauinspektors ausgeführt werden, der 1855 abgeschlossen war.

Das Haus besass ursprünglich zwei Schulzimmer und zwei Lehrerwohnungen, die später auch in Schulzimmer umgewandelt wurden. Die Schule wurde über hundert Jahre lang genutzt. In den 1960er Jahren sollte das Haus abgerissen werden, um Platz für einen Polizeiposten zu machen; diese Pläne wurden aber fallengelassen und 1985/86 wurde das Gebäude vollständig renoviert. Heute sind hier ein Kindergarten, sowie Musikzimmer und andere Nebenräume der Schule und der Gemeindeverwaltung untergebracht.
