Erected in 1967, this cairn, recognizes the sacrifice of those who died in World War I, is found in front of Branch 172 of the Royal Canadian Legion in Cremona, Alberta.

The land for this Legion was donated by A.F.(Bob) Simpson in 1947. Shortly thereafter the building was constructed. The building is relatively small but well suited to this small community. The cairn is within walking distance of most every resident of this small town. It is well located relative to the post office, curling ring and community centre.

The cairn is made of local river rock demonstrating the geology that is found in the nearby Rocky Mountains with these cobble sized stones likely gathered from nearby streams and fields.

The text on the plaque states:

and women of the Canadian
and all allied forces who
served their country
in peace and war
1914 - 1918 1939 - 1945

paid the supreme
sacrifice
we will remember them

On the reverse side is a small plaque recognizing those that died in the Korean War:
