Fangerne sad adskilte i små båse.
The church was built together with the rest of the prison in 1853 . At that time going to church was compulsory for inmates. At that time the prison was considered an inprovement institution which had to shape the inmates into better fellow citizens and going to church was part of that idea.
The inmates were seperated in small boxes unable to have contact with each other. In 1924 the compulsory church attendence was liftet by the prison chaplain. In 1925 the church room was fit out as a usual church with benches. In 1994 a prayer area for muslim was made.
The altarpiece in the church was made by an inmate. It is a copy of a painting by the German artist Heinrich Hoffmann in 1882.
