Henry Overholser is laid to rest in Fairlawn Cemetery, one of the oldest in Oklahoma City. This is a large cemetery on N. Shartel with approximately 20,000 burials.

Henry Overholser (1846-8/25/1915) arrived in Oklahoma Territory a few days after the Land Run of 1889. Already a rich and successful businessman, he immediately began establishing this new town of Oklahoma City. Within a few days, he erected six commercial buildings (pre-fab) and was elected to the Oklahoma County Commission in 1894. He became president of the Board of Trade, which later evolved into the Chamber of Commerce. He established a railroad, and a street car business, hotels, and the famous Overholser Opera House. Largely through his efforts, the city of Oklahoma City grew rapidly. His home, the Overholser Mansion, is on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Overholser monument is a large granite monument, with columns and the name OVERHOLSER. Two above-ground, full-sized crypts are engraved "H. OVERHOLSER / 1846 - 1915 and alongside this, his wife's which reads "ANNE IONE OVERHOLSER / 1870- 1940.
