Near Hanna City and within the Wildlife Prairie Park is a miniature railroad that has the name, "Prairie Zephyr."

Wildlife Prairie is located west of the city of Peoria. From I-74, take Exit 82 to Edwards Road/Kickapoo Street and head south. Follow this road to the entrance and sign on the left.

You first encounter the entrance gate where you pay the fee to get in. There is a fee to get in the park ($8 for adults). There is an additional fee of $4 per person to get on the train (two and under are free). The parking lot for the railroad is the closer one on the right. From there, walk under the covered area. To the left is a small railroad museum of random memorabilia. The loading area for the railroad itself is ahead.

The train that we rode had a gas powered 'diesel' engine with several open cars behind it. It was large enough so that two people could sit in the car side by side. As it was during a weekday, it wasn't crowded - we had the train to ourselves. The route first went north along one end of the dogbone, then turned around, passed the station, and went south along the other end of the dogbone. On the way, you will pass under a covered bridge, go through a tunnel, and have one or two vistas. You'll also see some of the animals in the zoo portion. The whole time took about a half hour.
