Yes, they have real lions, but they correctly guessed that it would be safer and lead to less litigation to let these guys greet visitors.

Cat Tales Zoological Park is as much an animal rescue centre as it is a zoo. All of their animals are rescues or donations from other organizations. As well as admission fees, donations and gift shop sales, they are funded by Adoptions. That is, any number of persons may adopt a favorite animal for a fee of $25 to $120 per month. As well as cats, they have a few other animals, such as Tweety, an African Amazon Parrot ($25.00 per month), Oscar & Oso-Much-Trouble, American Black Bears ($75.00 per month) and Masai, a Turkish Anatolian Shepard ($25.00 per month).
Not a large zoo, they have about 30 animals at present, with space for many more, as the need arises. That's not counting our greeters here. Not quite alive, they appear to have been made of cast concrete. I expect they've taken more than a few visitors by surprise as, when entering the zoo, one turns a corner and BANG, there they are!
