Mark Twain is most famous for his novels about Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. He also wrote many other novels, did some journalism, and wrote a little poetry.
There is a large monument that his daughter dedicated to him and her husband, and at the bottom it reads:
"Death is the starlit strip
between the companionship
of yesterday and the reunion
of tomorrow
To the loving memory of my father
and my husband
CCG 1937"
His gravestone reads:
"Samuel Langhorne Clemens
-Mark Twain-
Nov. 30 1835 - Apr. 21 1910"
He did quite a bit of his writing in his study in Elmira during the summer. The study has since been moved and can now be visited on the Elmira College campus.
