The cornerstone for this Cathedral was laid in 1903 and in 1913 Our Lady of Lourdes became the Cathedral for the newly created Diocese of Spokane.

Ending in 1991 all the windows in the cathedral were restored, replacing over 350 broken or cracked panes, removing the black shellac that obscured vision and further improving light transmission by replacing old translucent protective panels with new Lexan panels. As well, the windows were releaded and thoroughly cleaned. The restoration process required over one year.

Made in Mayer Studio in Munich, Germany over 100 years ago, the windows today are a sight to behold.

At least 12 of the windows are memorial windows, dedicated to various past members of the congregation and of the community.

This window, entitled Behold the Handmaid of the Lord was dedicated to the memory of Charles & Richard, the children of Mr. and Mrs. Richard B Porter of Spokane, by Mrs. Porter.
