The cemetery and the old one-room country school next to it are named Ruddick, whilst the church connected with the cemetery is called Reddick Assembly of God. It is possible, but too improbable, that both a Ruddick and a Reddick family settled in the same area. The oldest Reddick grave (apart from 2 undated infant graves) is from 1941, whilst the oldest Ruddick grave is from 1869, when the cemetery was started. It is likely that someone in the family changed their name, thus starting a separately named family tree.
The yoke of the bell says:
STEEL ALLOY | 24 | SCHOOL BELL
the other side simply says: YOKE 24. The plaque on the native stone base says:
UNION CHAPEL CEMETERY
GRAVES FROM BEAVER LAKE RESERVOIR MOVED HERE AUGUST 1961
BELL PURCHASED IN 1902 FOR CHURCH AND SCHOOL IN MUNDELL
COMMUNITY RELOCATED HERE AS A MEMORIAL JULY 1966. |
