'...Named for the Jonsrud family of Sandy....T.G.Jonsrud and his wife Kari settled west of Sandy in 1877. The Jonsrud's son Robert, a blacksmith and sawmill owner, acquired this land in the early 1900s. In 1922 Robert and his wife Tillie built the beautiful Prairie Style house across the road and cleared this viewpoint which has been in constant use for more than 70 years. Philip Jonsrud, Robert's son, donated the viewpoint to the City of Sandy in 1984.' From an information board at the viewpoint.

This is a designated stop on the Oregon Scenic Byway looking towards the lower slopes of Mt.Hood and includes the Sandy River in the foreground. One of the info boards shows an idealised picture of the view. When we were there this last time, November 2013, there was low cloud and rain and a snow base of 3000' so that Mt.Hood was obscured all week. There is a pay telescope, three info boards, whilst the pathways to/from the car pull-off and some of the surrounding area is paved with bricks inscribed with the names of the donors to the re-modelling of the viewpoint in 1993. The car park will take five to six cars.

For a clear photo of Mt.Hood from the viewpoint I can recommend the following, it's stunning. view from here
