Many people who have lived in this area for a long time will remember 'Bowaters' A paper production facility in the heart of the Medway Towns. Once one of the top five employers in area, it has now gone.
In the days when the paper company was in full production it needed large quantities of water for their production, this water tower was in constant use. Today it is empty and stands in the centre of the car park used by the food giant Tesco. Preserved as a standing landmark, it bears their logo on the large 'globe' section at the top of this tower.
