After the schools were consolidated, this building was allowed to get pretty run down, as can be seen in the photo in this rootsweb page. But it has been beautifully restored and is being used as the New Salem Baptist Church. The sign on the front of the building says Est. 1861, but whether that means as a school or as a church or as both is not indicated.
