Jean-Yves Béland (15 June 1944-31 July 1997), better known under the pseudonym Johnny Farago (Beland being his mother's name and the name Farago of his father) is a Quebec singer who was a member of the group The Mercedes until 1964, after which he made a solo career and became quite popular in the second half of the 1960s, mainly through French versions of American hits. Unconditional admirer of Elvis Presley, he spent much of his career to imitate him and make him hommage2. He died July 31, 1997 as a result of a stroke.
Jean-Yves Béland (15 juin 1944-31 juillet 1997), mieux connu sous le pseudonyme de Johnny Farago (Béland étant le nom de sa mère et Farago le nom de son père), est un chanteur québécois qui fut membre du groupe Les Mercedes jusqu'en 1964, après quoi il fit carrière seul et devint relativement populaire dans la deuxième moitié des années 1960, surtout grâce à des versions françaises de succès américains. Admirateur inconditionnel d'Elvis Presley, il passa une grande partie de sa carrière à l'imiter et à lui rendre hommage2. Il décède le 31 juillet 1997 des suites d'un AVC.
