RAF Troödos Station, one of the most important overseas British military installations, is the oldest remaining British Military asset in Cyprus. The station was formed in 1878 when Cyprus was ceded to Britain by the Ottoman Empire to counter Russian expansion into the Near East. Nowadays, here you will find RAF Troödos Station - a remote Signals Station run by 27 personnel from Golf Section, Joint Service Signal Unit (Cyprus) and also Mt. Olympus Radar Station.
