1937: The first successful flying car, Waldo Waterman's Aerobile, makes its initial flight.

2009: US Airways Flight 1549 from New York City to Charlotte, North Carolina was hit by a flock of Canada Geese causing a loss of thrust in both engines after take off from LaGuardia International Airport. Captain Chesley Sullenberger and First Officer Jeffrey Skiles guided the Airbus A320 to a safe ditching in the Hudson River. All 155 passengers and crew survived.
