The TS No. 988, devoted to town Nymburk, depicts two key town' landmarks - the medieval town fortification and the bell tower of Gothic church of St. Giles (Kostel Sv. Jiljí).

Nymburk is one of the few Czech towns in which a part of the city walls with defensive towers remains standing. It consists of a section of the fortification protecting the town by the Labe River, extremely well-preserved thanks to reconstruction in 1908-1909. The ramparts were built in the period between 1288-1335 and, with the exception of the length by the Labe, it consisted of two walls. The fortification walls were 13 meters high and 1,25 m thick, and there were about fifty towers over the entire length.

St. Giles Church was built in the 13th century and was consecrated to St. Nicholas until 1622. A three-aisled basilica with a tower in the western forefront was built next to the Early Gothic presbytery around 1350.
