The Warner Valley Trailhead is located near the end of the road into Warner Valley in Lassen Volcanic National Park. This trailhead provides access to Boiling Springs Lake (0.9 miles), Devils Kitchen (2.1 miles), Drake Lake (2.4 miles), Terminal Geyser (2.7 miles), and the Pacific Crest Trail also crosses the road here.

Warner Valley, through faulting and glacier action, was carved from the core of an extinct volcano, known as Dittmar. Hard edges of the ancient volcano -- Saddle and Kelly mountains -- border the valley today. Volcanic fires still smolder underneath this pleasant meadow valley, though not from the volcano Dittmar. Miles below the Earth’s surface a superheated magma chamber exists that is related to the younger and presently active Lassen Volcanic Center. Evidence of the center’s vigor is found in locations easily accessed from this trailhead. Hike to Devils Kitchen, Boiling Springs Lake, or Terminal Geyser and glimpse the volatile forces that fuel volcanoes.
