An interesting sign on the main road into Torquay. There is parking just past the sign.

The Torquay welcome sign is quite creative and is respected as one of the most creative welcome signs on the surf coast.
The sign pretty much consists of a cut rock main sign with a thin strip of blue which runs down the side which many thinks represents the water that everyone in Torquay loves so much. The legs are thick, brown and curved which many think represents tree trunks as nature is so important around here. Finally there is the bit that splays out with a thin connection. Some think this represents a wave a spray but many can only speculate.
Torquay is a town which contains many beaches, cafes and shops. It is quite a small town but is large for one in the area. It has wuite a major beach focus and contains major billabong, ripcurl and quicksilver shops.
There is a parking area just behind the sign where you can take your images. There is a walking track that leads from that parking spot which is apparently worth doing but does not lead to the sign. There is also a geocache on the same location.
Enjoy
