The first parish church in Tychy was founded at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries, and the first written record of a wooden church in Tychy dates back to 1529. The original location of the church is not exactly known, but according to the legend, it was built at today’s Starokoscielna Street. In the years 1569-1629 St. Mary Magdalene Church was administered by Protestants. The records which they kept in 1628 showed that “in the village of Tychy there was a beautiful fairly new church, which had two bells”. The new church was also built of wood but its location was different – it was founded in the middle of the settlement, on a gentle hill, at the pond. It is not known who built the church and when it was. A concrete church was erected in 1782. In 1907 it was extended, and in 1929 a further tower was built.
