In Springfield, near a group of war memorials within a cemetery, is this relief sculpture with the title "The Chosin Reservoir."
The sculpture is located within the Oak Ridge Cemetery. The entrance is off IL Route 29, a few blocks north of the intersection with Grand Avenue. From the entrance, there are three monuments a short distance in on the right. The Korean War monument is the southern one. The sculpture is located near this monument.
The sculpture is a stone piece that is rectangular and is relatively thin. It is like a large picture in 3-D. The edge looks like a frame. Soldiers are marching forward and to the left against a mountainous background.
I can't find anything more about the sculpture, including the artist or when it was created. A web site about the Korean Memorial stated that the Korean memorial was dedicated in 1996. My guess that this is the earliest date.
