These two lions sit inside the brick arch leading to the School of Journalism. A plaque tells about their history:
“These stone lions carved 531 years ago during the Ming Dynasty, in Chufu, China, birthplace of Confucius, are the Gift of the Chinese National Government to the School of Journalism of the University of Missouri. They were obtained by Dr. H.H. Kung, Minister of Industry for China, seventy-fifth descendent of Confucius.
Dedicated May 8, 1931by Dr. Chao-Chu-Wu, Minister from the Republic of China to the United States.”
