A busy Amtrak schedule presents numerous opportunities for watching Amtrak passenger trains traveling down the middle of Embarcadero West in both directions.

There are many places along the Embarcadero to park and watch for Amtrak to come whizzing by. Street parking is metered and many lots are pay lots, but there are a few free lots for various stores in the area where you can park for free for a limited time.
This section of mainline appears to be used only by Amtrak during the day but may support other movements during the night hours when it wouldn't interfere with tourist traffic.
