Carl Pizzi - St. Joseph Cemetery - Yreka, CA - Homemade Tombstones on Waymarking.com

Visitors to St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery might notice this very ornate tombstone of Carl Pizzi who was born in 1887 and died in 1959 (his grave is located on FindaGrave.com here).

Pizzi's grave is created with colorful stones imbedded in concrete which hint at Native American design or even a snake-like skin. Either way, this is one of the most original and eye-catching graves I've come across in my travels through many cemeteries over the years. This tombstone is even complimented with cement borders which are also embellished with the same rockwork and gives the impression of castle walls with towers at both ends.

With so many mundane custom tombstones all over the world I found this particular grave site head and shoulders above the rest. :)
