The Hradek fort was modified and then after 1590 was rebuilt into a Renaissance chateau. The noble family Racínové hold up this chateau up to 17th century. Then the estate changed hands several times. The new owner, John Ferdinand Desfours started rebuilding the Renaissance chateau to Baroque palace in 1731.
On 24th June 2010, after long reconstruction, Hrádek u Sušice chateau was opened to public again. This object is perceived as a school-book of all architectural styles, logically following one another and creating one unified, harmonic areal as a result.
There is now a romantic accommodation, restaurant, František Pravda Museum, St. Walburga's chapel and a park.
