This Trail of Death historical marker was placed here by Kyle Cox as an Eagle Scout Project. The inscription reads:

Trail of Death. On October 24, 1838 about 800 Potawatomi Indians camped near Carrollton on forced emigration from Indiana to Kansas. Cold was intense on the prairie.

Erected by Kyle Cox, Eagle Project, Troop 800, 1998.

(There is a map of the route that they traveled etched in the granite stone.)
