In Washington, within the Glendale Cemetery, is this gravestone for Jesse and Calla Gillan.

To reach this gravestone, from Washington Square where Main Street and IL Route 8 intersect, go south on Main Street to Howard Street. Take a right onto this road and drive for a block, then take a left onto Market Street. Travel south on Market Street to the end to the old Washington Cemetery. Take a right and travel around this cemetery and beyond to the entrance to Glendale Cemetery. Travel on the cemetery road to the new part where there are few trees. Take road 13 and go about halfway down to the grave.

The grave is a stone monument about 2 feet high. The marker has the following engraved on it:

"Gillan

Jesse E.
July 23, 1894
Nov. 12, 1968

[Hands and other designs]

Calla M.
Apr. 8, 1899
Nov. 11, 2002"

There is an entry for this grave in findagrave.com, but not much additional information was there.

Technically, Calla's life spanned three centuries: the 19th (depending on how you count it, either a few weeks, or a year and a few weeks), the 20th (all of it), and the 21st (a year or so into it). Events that happened at her birth and death years are as follows:

1899:

June 12 - The New Richmond Tornado in Wisconsin occurs, killing 117 people.
Sept. 18 - Scott Joplin's Maple Leaf Rag is registered for copyright.
Nov. 8 - The Bronx Zoological Gardens is opened to the public.

2002:

Jan. 1 - The Euro coins and bills are introduced into circulation in several European countries.
Feb. 19 - the NASA probe Odyssey begins to map the surface of Mars.
Nov. 25 - the US Department of Homeland Security is formed.
