Henri II Plantagenêt, roi d'Angleterre depuis 1159 meurt dans la chapelle Saint-Melaine du château.
Il aurait fait reconstruire le pont en pierre sur la Vienne entre le faubourg Saint-Jacques et Saint-Lazare au 4ème quart du 12ème siècle.
La partie du pont située au sud du faubourg Saint-Jacques s'appelait pont à Nonnain. Elle a été remplacée par une digue au 18ème siècle.

Le pont est représenté entièrement en pierre sur l'album de Nicolas Poinctevin.
- 1853-1854
Le pont a été élargi, réparé et modifié.
- 29 août 1944
La partie nord du pont est détruite. Elle sera d'abord remplacée par un pont provisoire en bois.

Le pont est de nouveau est élargi.

- In July 7th, 1189
Henri II Plantagenêt, king of England since 1159 dies in the chapel Saint-Melaine of the castle.
He(It) would have made reconstruct the stone bridge on Vienne river between the faubourg Saint-Jacques and Saint-Lazare in the 4th quarter of the 12th century.
The part of the bridge situated in the South of the faubourg Saint-Jacques was called bridge "à nonnains". It was replaced by a dike in 18th century.

The bridge is represented completely stone on Nicolas Poinctevin's album.
- 1853-1854
The bridge was widened, repaired and modified.
- In August 29th, 1944
The north part of the bridge is destroyed. She(it) will be replaced at first by a wooden temporary bridge.
