In RIVERSIDE PARK, Green and Water Sts., which is on the point of land where Will's Creek flows into the Potomac, is a log cabin used, according to local tradition, by George Washington during the French and Indian War. It formerly stood on the spot now occupied by the Allegany County Courthouse. In 1921 it was presented to the city by James W. Thomas, a local historian. - Maryland: A Guide to the Old Line State, Cumberland section, pg. 267.
The park is still a park and the log cabin is still in the park and maintained. The park has various monuments and markers including those for the National Road which started here.
At the time of my visit much of the park was not accessible because of maintenance projects taking place but the area around the log cabin was accessible.
