I found no official write-up on the mausoleum.
This is a granite mausoleum in the form of a Greek temple. The roofline has a slight pitch. The upper part of the Mausoleum is unadorned. Above the door, the simple word - "Dodge". The doors are bronze with a barred grill over the window. Four simple Doric columns are in front of the doors. Three steps lead to the Mausoleum. Looking inside, General Dodge is entombed on the right and his wife is on the left. Other family members rest in the back wall. The floor has a very nice mosaic.
On the outside wall, is a brass plaque that reads:
Grenville M. Dodge
Major General
United States Army
1831 - 1916
Through the efforts of General Dodge as Chief Engineer of the Union Pacific Union Railroad, and the foresight of Abraham Lincoln, Council Bluffs became the hub of the first Transcontinental Railroad.
History: unknown - This is the burial place of Grenville Dodge, a Major General and one of the main forces in the construction of the Transcontinental Railroad.
