Kajaran (8 498 inhabitants) is a town in the southern Syunik Province of Armenia. The name translates from Armenian as "the place of the brave". It is located 356 km away from Yerevan, 25 km away from Kapan, the regional center, and 50 km from the border of Armenia and Iran. The town is surrounded by vast copper and molybdenum mine, which is the biggest in Armenia and belongs among the most important enterprises in the country.
