The GEPHART HOUSE, 104 Washington St., is a two-and-a-half-story brick house with gable roof and brick cornice.  It has an imposing central recessed Doric portico and a small Doric side portico.  The house was built about 1840 by Thomas Perry.  It was lster the home of John Gephart, organizer of the First Methodist Protestant Church.- Maryland: A Guide to the Old Line State, Cumberland section, pg. 270.

The house is now the Gilchrist Gallery, an art museum and gallery operated by the Cumberland Cultural Foundation.  It is also available rent for events.  The house is in excellent condition, it remained in the Gephart family for more than 120 years.
