Visitors and students of Klamath Union High School might notice this small plaque that hangs on a wall in the front entrance to the school. It hangs opposite a WWII memorial plaque that memorializes former Klamath Union students killed during WWII.

This multi-war memorial plaque reads:

DESERT STORM
MICHAEL C. DAILEY, Jr. - 1989

I was able to find a web link to the local Klamath County Museum website that has a page devoted to all local men who died in various wars and includes a quick bio of each. Click here to go to the page of those men who died in Korea; Click here to go to the page of those men who died in Vietnam; and click here to go to the page of those men who died in conflicts in Desert Storm and after. These deceased men are also listed on a memorial near the Klamath County Courthouse on Main Street.

This memorial plaque is a sobering reminder of the many young men who lost their lives in this one community of Klamath during various world conflicts and one of thousands of communities across the nation that lost young men and women in their communities.

On a personal note, I attended KUHS and graduated with Michael Dailey (who died in Desert Storm) and although I don't remember him well, I'm glad to see that his name lives on with this plaque, along with many other individuals.

Description of Memorial:
This plaque inconspicuously hangs on one of the walls at the top of a stairwell that makes up the entrance to the high school. I noticed this war memorial plaque along with a WWII memorial plaque after waymarking a mural that covers all walls of the entryway and stairwell. Seeing one of my fellow classmates on this memorial plaque was a sobering reminder of how precious life is and how it can be cut short with the dangers of war.
