This pre-WWII era structure was part of the Wildwood US Naval Air Station just SW of Rio Grande, and now is being used to house the Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum - (

During WWII the Air Station served as a dive-bomber squadron training facility, and was decommissioned in 1945. The remaining buildings were turned over to the county of Cape May.
In 1997, Hanger #1 was purchased by the NAS Wildwood Foundation, and the building was placed on the New Jersey State & National Registers of Historic Places at a level of National Significance.
