In Lacon, at the intersection of IL Route 17 (5th Street) and IL Route 26 (Prairie Street) and by the Marshall County Courthouse, is a non-specific war memorial that includes a Chrysler tank.

The installion is very visible from the intersection, a little upstreet from the northeast corner along 5th Street. The installation includes a military tank, a pair of plaques by a flag stand, and a stone monument.

The tank is a large vehicle that is generally roundish and has a large and long turrett and gun. It is painted dark green and set on a concrete base. By the tank is a marker by a flag stand.

The plaques on the flag stand is both a dedication to veterans of Marshall County and a poem.

The monument is over six feet tall and made of stone. The text on the plaque also stated that it is to the men and women of Marshall County serving in all wars.

Flag Stand Engraved in stone: "M60 A3TTS 1977 Chrysler Combat Tank Fenz Memorial Home Since 1895" Plaque 1: "Marshall County dedicates this tank to commemorates the actions and deeds of those who honorably served in the military forces of our nation and to ever reflect the honor and prestige so greatly deserved. Aug. 27, 1994" Plaque 2: "Bless Our Boys Dear Father, in thy name we pray. Bless our boys and keep them safe today. Give them strength and courage anew, so they can nobly defend the red, white , and blue. Even though sometimes, in our hearts we Question whether we be wrong or right for America and it's people our boys willingly fight Our destiny in their hands for they are the true leaders of this mighty land. We know dear Lord, many have died, and Because of this many of us have cried. But please help us to understand that our Boys will fight for the freedom of all lands. That the future of thousands of people will lie On the shoulders of Our boys who for others are Willing to die! Oh, bless our boys, Lord we pray and keep them safe another day.
