Made by the Peoria Drill & Seeder Company of Peoria, Illinois, this old drill was probably put out to pasture many decades ago. Having steel rimmed wooden wheels and a wooden seed box, this seeder exhibits a basic design that remained unchanged for many decades. Except for minor changes over the years, they seem to have gotten it right 100 years ago. When I was a kid growing up on a farm, our seeder of choice was a 50 or 60 year newer model of essentially the same design.

It is now part of the agricultural machinery display at the Museum. Though there is a $5.00 charge to view the main building's displays, the outdoor displays are free to view and available all year. The museum building is closed from October through April.
