Santa Fe Plaza is a small park area on Main Street, which has several memorials, including a caboose.
This monument was erected before Oklahoma Statehood, in 1906 when the area was Indian Territory. This is a marble pillar with a crowned top. Engraving is located on indented portions of the pillar, and on the base. The engraving reads:
Erected by the members
Mrs. Stonewall Jackson Charter
No. 550 U.D.C.
of Purcell Ind. Ter. December 1906To the memory
of those who
fought and
those who fell
in the
Confederate
Army
1861 - 1865
And on the base...
But their memories ever shall remain for us
and their names, bright names without stain for us.
The glory they won shall not wane for us.
In legend and lay our heroes in gray
shalt forever live over again for us.
