Greenfield Vedette News Story: "At the request of the committee who has managed the Dade County Veterans’ Memorial since its inception, Washington Lodge No. 87 AM & AF has assumed stewardship for the memorial. The memorial is located on the northwest corner of the Dade County Courthouse courtyard and was constructed through contributions, both monetary and non-monetary, of veterans, their families and other patriotic citizens. The memorial was dedicated on May 25, 1996 and stands to honor all native Dade County sons and daughters who served and sacrificed to protect our many freedoms.
The committee was comprised of Joe McGee, Fred Lemons, Robert Jackson, Charlie Killingsworth and the late Francis Steenrod. Washington Lodge wants to thank them for guiding the way for the memorial to become a reality and for the care given since."
