The
Herald and News newspaper is Klamath Falls' only newspaper publication. The paper is published mornings, Tuesday through Sunday, with paid circulation of just under 15,000 daily and over 15,200 on Sunday. With average readership of 2.3 per paid subscription, the Herald and News reaches over 34,000 readers daily and 35,000 on Sunday.
I've worked at this paper for almost five years and finally decided I needed to waymark my employer! The newspaper is a subsidiary of Pioneer News Group which is headquartered in Seattle, WA. Pioneer owns and operates 24 newspaper publications across the Pacific Northwest to include Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Utah.
The Herald and News was previously known as the Evening Herald and began as a paper with the Crone Miller family in June, 1906. After celebrating 100 years of existence, the paper moved from its former location on the corner of Esplanade and Main Street to its current location in July, 2007. The building contains over 39,000 square feet and is geothermally heated, which helps in keeping operating costs at a minimum.
On a personal note, I have to say I have the BEST view of the Klamath Basin from my office cubicle with a great view of majestic Mt. Shasta in the background.
