In Lacon, right at the river edge by a marina, is a welcome sign for the city.

The sign is located in a parking lot, which is off IL Route 17, and east of the bridge that carries Route 17 over the Illinois River.

The sign is a wooden oval sign painted white with blue lettering. The text is as follows:

"Welcome to Lacon
The friendly town on the Illinois"

While they probably are a friendly town, are they the only friendly town????

Lacon is a city of almost 2000 people, and is the county seat of Marshall County. It has a boat ramp, a marina, a downtown section, and something that every friendly town should have - a military tank on displayed at the courthouse!
Type of community: Town
