Off Sheep Creek Road to the west and south of Northport, WA an old trail takes off to the east. We only went as far as these buildings, so have no idea where or how far the trail goes. These buildings are less than a mile off the road, but well hidden by intervening trees and undergrowth.

Both built of logs, they could well have been built before the turn of the 20th century, as that's when the greatest influx of people occurred, due to the building of the railway, followed by construction of the smelter at Northport.

It's difficult to imagine exactly why anyone would want to build here. It's certainly not farming country and, to my knowledge, very little prospecting and mining took place in this locale. The larger of the two buildings is much too big to have been a hunting shack.
