Lone Walnut Cemetery has many examples of hand-made grave markers. Some have just a couple of initials; others have no names at all; and some have names or other writing that was hand-etched so shallow that they cannot be read anymore (except perhaps, by the shaving creme trick), such as this one, which looked like it ended with IE or LE. At the time I went to post this waymark, FindAGrave (usually a wealth of information) only had 2 graves for this cemetery. (I added 4 more from my visit photos.) Turns out that one of the two that were already listed has a photo that matches the one I took; giving it as the grave of
Samuel Jefferson Sprinkle[s]. Note that his father went by the name of Sprinkle, and that the last letters on the marker are LE, not LES. (Yes, later family members used Sprinkles, but that must have started
after his generation, since his grave marker does not have the S.)
