RECOVERY NOTE BY INTERNATIONAL BOUNDARY COMMISSION 1978 (JRF) ON THE CANADIAN SIDE OF THE BOUNDARY, NEAR THE SOUTHEASTERN SHORE OF MORRISON ISLAND, NEAR THE END OF THE ROAD WHICH TERMINATES EAST OF AN OLD APPLE ORCHARD AND ABOUT 20 FEET EAST OF THE EASTERN EDGE OF THE ORCHARD. THE MONUMENT IS AT 3.1 MILES SOUTH OF HIGHWAY 2 AND THE ENTRANCE OF ST LAWRENCE PARK AND BIRD SANCTUARY. IT IS INTERVISIBLE WITH REFERENCE MONUMENTS 22 - 58, AND 24 - 58.
REFERENCE MARK 1--A BRONZE REFERENCE MARK DISK IN THE TOP OF A CYLINDRICAL CONCRETE POST, 10 INCHES IN DIAMETER, 5 FEET DEEP AND FLUSH TO THE GROUND. IT IS 60 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE LINE OF TREES GOING NORTHWESTERLY - SOUTHEASTERLY. REFERENCE MARK 2--A BRONZE REFERENCE MARK DISK IN THE TOP OF A CYLINDRICAL CONCRETE POST 10 INCHES IN DIAMETER, 5 FEET DEEP AND FLUSH TO THE GROUND. IT IS 10 FEET NORTHEAST FROM THE SAME LINE OF TREES.
As you walk south toward the seaway from the campground loop road, you will first see the line of trees and the monument referenced by this benchmark. If it is camping season, there will be a fee to enter.
