This white bronze marker is in excellent condition. It marks the grave of Henry Harrison Chance, who was born near Columbus, Ohio and migrated to Oregon from Indiana after returning from service in the Civil War. The cemetery was founded in 1888 as a joint effort by the Oddfellows and Masonic lodges; Mr. Chance was a Freemason, indicated by the emblem above his name on the marker.

At the base of the marker, a manufacturer's inscription reads: "WHITE BRONZE MONUMENT CO., DES MOINES, IA."
